Do-it Search Help

1. The do-it.org.uk search works on locations. Enter your postcode OR your town to find opportunities in your area. You can search by one or the other, but not both. The town must be a recognised postal district, such as Hackney or Merseyside.

You can use the quick search on the homepage or go to step 2 to use the advanced search, which will help you refine your search.

2. The advanced search allows you to:

Increase the distance searched by the database to find more opportunities;
Select your favorite area of interest (the different causes you would like to help) and type of activity (the type of volunteering role you're looking for) from the drop-down lists;
Enter keywords and your availability.
Keyword search: if you're searching using more that one keyword or a specific organisation name with more than one word, make sure you use the inverted commas so that the keyword search can work correctly. For example, if you're looking for opportunities with the National Trust, type "The National Trust" in the keyword search box.

3. When you have filled out all the fields, click on Find it! This will show you a list of all the opportunities available in that postcode area or town.

4. County search: You can also view more opportunities by clicking on the 'County' tab at the top. This is found on the right of the 'Local' tab and allows you to view the list of opportunities available across your county.
