Following the success of previous ‘drop-in’ police surgeries, further monthly sessions are planned at Leigh Library throughout 2010. These will take place in the ground floor of the branch library in Broadway West on Tuesdays, starting either at 10am or 3pm and running for 90 minutes. The Leigh Library police surgeries will be provide the opportunity for local residents to meet locally-based Neighbourhood Specialist Officer, Pc 970 Leon Pezzuolo. At the free surgeries, library visitors can find out about neighbourhood policing initiatives, receive expert advice about home security, personal safety and pick up free crime prevention information from a community-based officer. Monday 15 March, 8.15pm William Tyler presents Dig for Victory. It was all hands to the spade and fork as Britain faced a war on The Home Front in 1940 to provide as much of its own food as possible. William will take a look at who grew the food, where they grew it and what they grew. The message for us today is a clear one - Get Digging!
