The objective of the session is to review your existing equality policy and action plan – or write a draft - please bring a copy with you to the training.
The majority of organisations have a policy on equal opportunities and managing diversity. Many of these policies are aimed at:
protecting staff, volunteers and clients from discrimination because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation
promoting the diversity of the workforce
responding to changing demographics and working patterns – for example, many employers use flexible working to meet customer demands and retain valuable employees with caring responsibilities.
An equality policy is a promise to treat everyone within the organisation fairly and considerately. This training will give you the opportunity to see what your equality policy means in practice and identify any areas that could be strengthened.
