SAVS are recruiting for the following role:
Youth Volunteering Administrator
22.5 hrs per week (times by arrangement)
Salary: NJC Point 20 £18,453 (pro rata) per annum
This post is funded until 31 March 2011

Southend Association of Voluntary Services are recruiting for an enthusiastic person, passionate about young people to join a dynamic team. This role will support the further development of a vibrant culture of youth led volunteering opportunities across Essex, Southend & Thurrock funded by the youth volunteering charity vinvolved.

Based at our offices in Alexandra Street Southend on Sea, the role of the administrator is to:

Support the Essex, Southend & Thurrock vInvolved Teams, organisations and young volunteers through a busy and pressurised central administrative role.

Relevant experience is essential to support a large team through diverse duties whilst acting as a central point of contact. Experience of working or dealing with young people, general administrative duties, organising training and knowledge of Health & Safety and risk assessment is required.

Third Sector Development Officer
37 hrs per week. Temporary Position until March 2011

Southend Association of Voluntary Services is looking for an excellent communicator to help us build the skills and capacity of third sector organisations in Southend on Sea. We are looking for a flexible person to undertake organisational health checks to work with local charities to help them identify the areas they need to develop to enable them to be ready to compete in an ever changing funding environment.

Homeless Action Resource Project
Service Operations Manager
Salary Grade point 43 to point 47 (£36,313 to £39,855)
Homeless Action Resource Project (HARP) is an exciting and innovative organisation for the homeless, which aims to provide accommodation and support tailored to the specific needs of homeless people in the Southend on Sea area to enable them to live independently within the community. The Service Operations Manager will play a pivotal role by providing leadership and management for the delivery and development of support services within HARP. The role must balance the efficient, effective and safe management of existing projects and the development of new schemes to help homeless and vulnerable people.
The ideal candidate will have:
• significant experience of managing people
• the ability to motivate, support and lead teams
• the ability to handle difficult situations and complex problems calmly, making sound judgments
• experience of liaising with external agencies at a senior level.
• experience of project development.

To provide administrative support in a very busy office eg. to colate and pack mailings/information packs, update membership lists and handbook as well as helping out at support groups and social events. Skills required include confident computer skills and a good understanding of MS Office as well as excellent communication skills and telephone manner. Opportunity is based at SAVS Centre, Southend Thursdays10am-2pm.

Swimming Assistant (Voluntary Position - Dolphin Court)
Volunteer is required to acompany some of our disabled residents to the local swimming pool on a weekly basis (Tuesday 12.15-1.15pm). Assistance is required to get to and from the changing rooms, to the pool side and basic assistance in the pool. All expenses will be reimbursed and support will be provided.
