SOUTHEND ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTARY SERVICES

TURNING TIDES NEIGHBOURHOOD MANAGEMENT PARTNERSHIP
For the past 3 years Southend Association of Voluntary Services has been leading the ground breaking Turning Tides Neighbourhood Management project, tackling issues of disadvantage and engagement in the central wards of Southend-on-Sea.

NEIGHBOURHOOD MANAGER
Faced with the inevitable pressures on public sector funding we are looking for an experienced professional to lead the project to its next step of sustainability without total reliance on the public purse.

As Neighbourhood Manager you will manage an established team of wardens who are integrated into the life and soul of the community. More importantly, you will explore and develop opportunities for funding to enable the project to continue beyond the end of its current funding (March 2011).

The post offered is a fixed term contract ending on 31st March 2011, and is well remunerated at scale point 47 (currently £39855).

PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR (PART TIME)
We are looking to recruit a capable administrator to assist the Turning Tides team in recording and delivering activity in the area.You will be expected to undertake administrative and financial functions relevant to the delivery of the project and will act as secretary for the Partnership Board and a number of committees and projects. You will be able to produce reports and presentations to a high standard.

The post offered is a fixed term contract ending on 31st March 2011.
Remuneration is at NJC salary point 18 (currently £17161) pro rata. This equates to £9276 for a 20 hour week (hours and days negotiable).

Hours 37.5 Hrs Mon-Fri (Flexi-time)

Responsible for managing the Papworth Trust Home Solutions Team in Southend, you and your team will be supporting clients to remain living independently by assisting them to carry out improvements, repairs and adaptations to their properties or to locate suitable alternative accommodation.
Leading a small team you will need to be self motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills, an ability to perform under pressure and have experience of working with the public and in a housing or similar related field.

If you have a good telephone manner, basic IT skills and a smart appearance we would love to hear from you. If you have some experience in this area or would like to brush up your skills in an office environment, and are available Tues/Wed/Thurs/Friday afternoons

Office Volunteer
To provide administrative support in a very busy office eg. to colate and pack mailings/information packs, update membership lists and handbook as well as helping out at support groups and social events. Skills required include confident computer skills and a good understanding of MS Office as well as excellent communication skills and telephone manner. Opportunity is based at SAVS Centre, Southend Thursdays10am-2pm.

Swimming Assistant (Voluntary Position - Dolphin Court)
Volunteer is required to acompany some of our disabled residents to the local swimming pool on a weekly basis (Tuesday 12.15-1.15pm). Assistance is required to get to and from the changing rooms, to the pool side and basic assistance in the pool. All expenses will be reimbursed and support will be provided.
