SAVS Membership

In these difficult financial times Southend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVS) have some great news for community groups. Membership for 2010-11 will be completely free of charge. SAVS provides a wide range of community information and support services and your organisation could be benefiting.
- Funding advice including a regular Funding Newsletter
- Regular community emails
- Community Newsletter
- Advice for those considering starting a community group
- Community forums and discussions
- Information from our extensive community database
- Room hire and conference facilities
- FREE community website (more info)
- Volunteer Centre services
- Youth volunteering opportunities
- SAVS website and community calendar
SAVS Chief Executive Officer, Alison Semmence, said: “We recognise that some organisations are finding the current financial situation a real struggle, by offering free membership we hope that more community groups will be able to access our services at a time when they most need them ”.
Membership is now open to everyone including individuals and local businesses; if you are interested in community issues or are involved with or thinking of starting a community group please contact:

Membership Categories:
General Membership of SAVS is open to:
- Registered charities
- Community groups (with documentation evidencing their public benefit)
- Registered social enterprises and community interest companies
- Registered social landlords
- Churches and communal places of worship
- Schools and other educational establishments able to demonstrate their public benefit
All serving the Southend area community. General Membership allows a group to vote at the SAVS Annual General Meeting.
Friend Membership is open to:
- Registered charities and community groups, (as defined above) not serving Southend
- Registered charities which do not qualify under the General member category
- Individual members
Supporter Membership is open to:
- Private companies
- Statutory organisations
Friend and Supporter Memberships do not convey voting rights at the SAVS Annual General Meeting.
