You'll have the opportunity to get a level 1 qualification in Preparation for Event Volunteering also, your tutor will help you to secure further learning and employment opportunties. The course includes:

‘Whistle a happy tune’
Could you brighten the day for our members who are suffering from early onset dementia by playing the piano and organising a sing-a-long? We would like to hold a fortnightly sing-a-long for about an hour. We have the piano and simple percussion instruments, we need someone to ‘tickle the ivories’ and send our members out whistling a happy tune.
Cycle Southend / British Heart Foundation
Help is needed for a charity event based at Southchurch Park raising money for the British Heart Foundation. You will be given the opportunity to get involved with a range of roles including marshalling, liaising with the public and presenting medals. Gain a good insight into what goes on 'backstage' at an event.
Coffee Shop
The Salvation Army in Shoebury needs help running a coffee shop, this involves serving customers, delivering orders to the kitchen and handling money. An excellent opportunity to meet different people in the community.
Green Fingers?
Are you a keen gardener with knowledge about growing vegetables and/or self sustainment and want to share that knowledge? This is for you! Working with vulnerable members of the community to tend the allotment to produce items for the drop-in kitchen. You would be supporting clients in the growing and maintaining of an allotment in the centre of Southchurch.
Volunteer Counsellors
Do you have an interest in the area of domestic abuse; are you currently studying counselling at college and looking for a volunteer placement as part of your course? Then look no further – this domestic abuse charity is looking for you!
Mental Health Group Leader
Do you have some experience working with groups of people? The REASON project is looking for a volunteer who can facilitate a group for Black and Ethnic minority men, women or children with mental health problems. You should have good communication, Literacy and IT skills and the ability to speak a second language would be desirable but not essential.

Athletics for all
An athletics club needs help getting children of all ages involved. Help the coach collect and distribute equipment, take measurements and timings, as well as the opportunity to join in. There is the possibility of training for coaching qualifications.
Qualified alternative therapists needed
Help provide palliative care for young adults with life limiting conditions. Visit patients and their carers in the comfort of their own home to practice therapy, preferably once a week. You would need to have a diploma in massage, aromatherapy or other approved therapy. Roles would be matched to volunteer locations where possible.
Youth Offending Supervisor
Escort and supervise young people undertaking “community work” which is meaningful and appropriate to an offence they have committed. The type of activities include gardening, painting, cleaning, carpentry and activities take place after school hours including weekends.
Design, manufacture, repair…...
A voluntary group who tailor makes or modifies equipment for disabled people needs volunteers with experience in design, manufacturing or repair and skills in anything from woodwork to engineering. If you can be creative when solving a problem they need you!
How does your garden grow?
Do you enjoy gardening? Could you assist the garden club leader in a local school to help teach children aged 6-7years? Pass on your enthusiasm to children who are learning how to grow vegetables in raised beds in the school garden.
Problem solver
Could you be an advocate for frail and vulnerable people aged over 60? A mature, committed and empathetic person is required to help support elderly people. This could involve filling out forms to claim benefits, making telephone calls and helping to solve a variety of problems that may arise.
