Turning Tides Welcome New Recruits
Turning Tides would like to welcome Chloe P, Toni, Chelsea, Max, Chloe W, Casey, Kieran, Joseph and Petrina! They are the currently training to be junior wardens and have already completed their First Aid training with British Red Cross and conducted patrols with the Neighbourhood Wardens reporting environmental issues. In the coming weeks they will visit the Fire Station, Lifeboats and Police Station and finish the course by conducting a community project!
Turning Tides Deliver Anti-Bullying Message
Over the past few months Turning Tides has been working closely with the Home Office to develop a story book which gives children aged between 5-11yrs an anti bullying message. The book is called ‘Mo and His New Trainers’ the story gives the message that bullying is bad and that children can turn to adults for help and support with tackling the issue. The book features the Neighbourhood Wardens, with Bill Pardon playing a starring role. The book is written by Neighbourhood warden supervisor Anthony Quinn and illustrated by John Bulley. The project is fully funded by the Home Office enabling it to be distributed free to children in the Turning Tides area.
The book was launched at Barons Court School and St Mary’s Primary School on Wednesday 24th February with Bill Pardon reading the story and the team then giving each child a copy to keep. Warden Bill Pardon said ‘the day was a great success the children were keen to get the book in their hands and read it for themselves’. The book is also available in Polish!
There has been much interest in the book and if you would like a copy please call Anthony on 01702 350483.
