Employ-Ability and the Job role
Employ-Ability, an Essex-based charity, is seeking to recruit an experienced person to help develop its service that supports people with severe and enduring mental ill health to find and keep employment. Employ-Ability is a highly successful supported employment service, as an accredited Centre of Excellence; it works with Essex Partnership University Trust (EPUT) to deliver an Essex wide Individual Placement and Support, (IPS) service.
The postholder will be a member of Employ-Ability’s leadership team and is critical to its continued expansion and development, so although funded, currently, until 2020 Employ-Ability anticipates that the opportunity will evolve into a longer-term commitment. The successful candidate may well, then, have a range of additional skills and attributes that will expedite this ambition.
The role is part of an NHS England funded investment to expand its IPS services. The role is focused on delivering the NHS Five Year Forward Plan’s ambition to double access to IPS services and there are challenging targets that the Essex service needs to deliver to reach that goal. `
This is an important appointment for Employ-Ability the successful candidate will lead a team of Employment Specialists providing supervision, training, mentoring, and role modelling of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, as part of the holistic recovery plan for mental health service users.
The postholder will support the expansion, development and management of a high-quality service that meets fidelity standards and delivers positive outcomes for service users and make significant overall contribution to Employ-Ability’s management capacity. You will be required to manage a small caseload of people who have experienced mental health problems and who are unemployed. Working directly with all relevant stakeholders: the service user, CMHT staff, consultant psychiatrists, employers and partner agencies.
The role calls for empathy, determination and resilience, and a solution focused results-orientated approach. The ideal candidate will be familiar with developing and managing complex services, including; clinical pathways, interagency and partnership working and delivering measurable positive outcomes. Most importantly, you need to be personable, a motivated self-starter who has really great communication skills. High quality staff are the key to our success, and you will need to be passionate about supporting people, developing an organisation and delivering a premium service.
