Become a Family Mentor! – Volunteering Matters

Published on: August 31, 2023

Do you have an interest in helping people & supporting your local community of Southend-On-Sea? Do you think you can spare an hour in your week to support a family as a volunteer? Are you over 18?

Volunteering Matters, the Family Mentors project in Southend, recruits and trains their volunteers to help support families.

Our Volunteers act as trusted mentors, providing consistent emotional and practical support to families in their homes every week. Volunteers tailor their support to the unique needs of each family, building on strengths, and promoting resilience.

We do not require you to have previous experience, as we feel our volunteers can make use of their life experiences and relevant skills to support our families, as well as the training provided.

Training and guidance are provided, as well as DBS checks & any out of pocket expenses. We are always looking for volunteers – this is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to gain experience in support work, or may just feel they can offer their life experiences to a family in need.
