Prohect 49 is a community based resource run by Southend Care Ltd providing innovative services for adults with learning disabilities in the Southend area. Located in central Southend, our focus is on putting people first. We provide a wide range of dynamic activities promoting healthy living and wellbeing, making informed choices and community inclusion. We have initiated or participated in a number of exciting projects and partnerships aimed at developing our service users’ independence, confidence and positive engagement within our town. Age 19 and over. Referral required via CTPLD (Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities). Cost £60 per day.

We have our own film production company “Around the Edge Productions” who have created a variety of films for others, which includes recruitment films for SBC’s education department and music promo videos for a local punk band.
We work closely with Make Southend Sparkle and are working on regenerating a neglected area of town so all can enjoy it.

Welcome to Southend Mencap supporting people with a learning disability in Southend, Castle Point, Rayleigh and Rochford. A registered charity enabling adults with and without disabilities to come together on equal terms, by going out into the community to establish friendships, confidence, self esteem and social skills. Meetings held weekly on Wednesday evenings. Various days out/holidays and activities carried out regularly.

Provides information and support to individuals with learning difficulties their parents/carers and local agencies. Advice is free confidential and independent. Information can be provided by telephone e-mail or home visits.
