We aim to show God’s love in the local community.
Who are we? – The congregation is made up of all sorts of people from the local community. We meet to worship God, to share fellowship and to follow Jesus’ teaching in our church family and the wider world.
Our minister is Rev Naomi Young-Rodas who is also the minister at Christ Church URC in Rayleigh. Naomi leads two services each month. On other Sundays our worship is led by local lay preachers.
Naomi is supported by a group of elders who are elected by the church members.
We are a small congregation of mostly older members but have a thriving group of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. We serve the local community by offering a welcome every Tuesday morning from 10.00 – 11.00 (longer on some mornings) with a free hot drink and cake or biscuits and activities each week (a film, a faith based discussion, a chat about books, a morning focussing on crafts and hobbies and occasionally a morning playing paper and pencil games. The Mendip Community Group hold a coffee morning every Thursday morning selling hot food and drinks. They also serve refreshments to the young footballers from the Catholic League on a Saturday morning. They provide a Barbecue or indoor refreshments for our Autumn and May Fairs. We hire our premises to local groups such as the Essex Woodcarvers, the Women’s Institute, a Fibromyalgia support group and a small music group. Our hall is a popular venue for children’s parties.
