  •  Have you got an idea for a project that will bring exciting and meaningful activities to our local recovery community, or those working towards recovery from drug and alcohol issues?

Contact SouthendDAAT@southend.gov.uk to find out more about the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Opportunities Fund.

Southend on Sea Council Drug and Alcohol Commissioning team are excited to announce the Small Opportunity Fund Programme.

Non-profit organisations and community groups will be invited to apply for up to £9,500 for a project or activity that will help build a visible recovery community, or provide individuals in recovery from drug and alcohol in Southend-on-Sea with meaningful activities.

The fund aims to:

  • Raise awareness of drug and alcohol recovery communities, recovery support, and where people can get help
  • Create community spaces and activities for individuals working towards recovery from drug and alcohol issues
  • Improving perception of individuals and services involved in recovering from drug and alcohol substance misuse
  • Encouraging drug and alcohol recovery through community groups and activities, as well as Southend’s specialist support offers
  • Supporting the recovery of individuals experiencing drug and alcohol recovery issues by offering positive community-based or social activities

By getting more people into recovery and supporting recovery success, we hope to reduce drug and alcohol related deaths and near misses whilst raising the visibility of inspiring individuals who have changed their lives for the better.

We will host a virtual launch and Q&A event (via teams) for the fund on 17th June 2024, 1pm-2.30pm where we will announce the full details of the application process and answer any questions. Please email the SouthendDAAT@southend.gov.uk email and request an invite to the meeting.

If your organisation would be interested in applying for up to £9,500 to support these aims, then please email us and we will ensure you receive details about the fund and an invite to the launch event. If you are unable to attend, you will still be able to apply once the full details are published.

If you have any questions please contact SouthendDAAT@southend.gov.uk for more details.

We look forward to hearing from you, and please feel free to forward to those you think may be interested in this opportunity.
