About this Funding:
The Environmental Improvement Programme provides larger, multi-year funding to support ambitious projects capable of delivering sustained and measurable environmental improvements to the tidal Thames. The programme aims to enable organisations to test innovative solutions, deliver strategic environmental improvements, and generate evidence that can inform wider management of the tidal Thames.
Key Information:
- Grant Amount: apply for a £15,000 to £35,000 annual grant for up to three years (maximum total grant £105,000).
- Project duration: Up to 3 years (Applicants may request funding for fewer than three years where justified).
- Application deadline: Tuesday 30th June, 5pm.
The Local Environment Champions stream supports small-scale, community-led projects that deliver practical environmental improvements or raise awareness of environmental issues affecting the tidal Thames. Projects must contribute to at least one of the following environmental themes:
- Improving water quality
- Enhancing ecology and biodiversity
- Reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability
- Improving air quality

- Grant Amount: apply for a small grant of up to £2,500 or a large grant of up to £15,000. Total of £50,000 is available.
- Project duration: Up to 12 months.
- Application deadline: Tuesday 30th June, 5pm.
The Tidal Stewardship Fund forms part of the wider programme, providing targeted support to organisations delivering habitat management within tributaries and creeks of the tidal Thames.
Through this fund, we aim to strengthen organisational capacity in habitat restoration, management planning, and volunteer development. Grants of up to £25,000 are available, with funding intended to support capacity building activities that promote the long-term stewardship of these valuable environments.
