Questionnaire Opportunity: Sports participation rates among individuals with neurodivergence and/or disability

Published on: February 16, 2026

My name is Alannah Bowles, and I’ve recently graduated from university with a BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Science and Coaching.  I’m conducting research on sports participation rates among individuals with neurodivergence and/or disability, and I would really appreciate it if any clubs, organisations, or CIC businesses with participants/members who are neurodivergent or have a disability could take 3 minutes to complete this questionnaire.

The questionnaire asks about sporting opportunities, competitive participation rates that have been offered previously or currently, and the impact on a person’s academic performance (past or present) and self-identity. Each participant who answers all the questions has the option to enter a £25 Amazon gift voucher prize draw.

If you have any members or participants under age 18 (13-18), they MUST complete the questionnaire with a parent or guardian. Participants/members may ask someone they trust to help them with the questionnaire. If any members of the club/organisation who are neurodivergent or have a disability would like to participate or may be interested, please get in touch with Alannah Bowles via the email address below.

If clubs, organisations or cic businesses would like to help with the research but don’t want to complete the questionnaire, a group discussion for club, organisation or cic businesses group only is another option (optional). The group discussion event only requires 20 minutes of their time and involves other people sharing thoughts and opinions on the questions Alannah Bowles is asking the group. Any members/participants under 18 (13-18), their parents or guardians MUST be involved in the group discussion. Also, leaders/organisers/directors, as well as parents/carers (who 18+ neurodivergent or disabled participants consented to their involvement), are welcome to participate in the group discussion event. Leaders/organisers can also be part of organising a group discussion event (e.g., choosing the location, structure, etc.), but must arrange it with Alannah. Participants’ answers will be voice recorded, and participants who want to take part in a group discussion MUST consent in the bottom section of the consent form (which will be provided on the day of or before the event). If the participants did NOT consent to being voice recorded, they will not be able to participate in the event.

If any clubs, organisations or cic businesses with members/participants who are neurodivergent and/or have disabilities would like to participate in one or both of these research projects, or have any queries, please get in touch with Alannah Bowles at alannah.bowles@outlook.com. You will receive a message containing instructions, a consent form and next steps.
