Published on: February 13, 2025

SAVS, along with RRAVS and CAVS, are pleased to announce the organisations awarded funding through the Health Inequalities Fund 2024/25. This initiative supports innovative and collaborative projects aimed at tackling health disparities across Southend, Rochford, and Castle Point, improving access to healthcare, enhancing wellbeing, and promoting preventative health measures.

The funded organisations and their projects are:

  • Place2Be – Delivering a project focused on the relationship between race, identity, and mental health among children and young people, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
  • City Family – Launching Grow Healthy, a three-part pilot tackling children’s health inequalities by educating and supporting parents and carers in Southend.
  • Hearing Help Essex – Providing vital hearing aid maintenance, support, and advice at the heart of the community, ensuring accessibility for those with hearing impairments.
  • Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust – Supporting individuals with learning difficulties and autism in accessing routine breast screening, promoting early detection and intervention.
  • Hadleigh Park Cycles – Delivering its Community Cycling Project, encouraging healthy lifestyles and active travel to improve physical wellbeing.
  • Headway Essex – Offering tailored support for adults with acquired brain injuries in South East Essex, helping them rebuild their lives and regain independence.
  • Home-Start Essex – Providing counselling, behaviour, and family support to families facing challenges, ensuring they receive the help they need.

These projects align with the Core20PLUS5 framework, focusing on supporting the most deprived communities and addressing priority health issues such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease, mental health, and early years’ health.
