Southend Parks Bowls Charity Day

Local Bowls Club help to raise £610 for Age Concern Southend on Sea at their Charity day event at Priory Park on Sunday 9th July 2023.

Eight Southend Park Circle Clubs entered the event, with a total of 67 bowlers participating.

Every year, the Southend Park Circle hold a charity day for good causes but this year the Committee decided to channel efforts into one local charity.

Michael Nicolas, Acting CEO for Age Concern Southend on Sea said, “We are so honoured to have been chosen by the Committee. The funds will enable us to purchase more equipment to enhance the classes run at ‘The Haven Community Hub’ and for craft supplies for our neurological day care centre, ‘Days at the Haven’. Thank you to all the players involved, albeit a couple of light showers, the weather held fair and spirits were high!”

The Southend Park Circle was formed in 1930 and, to date, the following bowls club are members, Alexandra, Belfairs, Chalkwell, Eastwood. Fairwood. Great Wakering RBL, Prittlewell, Shoebury Park, Southchurch Park and White Hall B.C.

The eventual winners of the Triples tournament were, Alec Effeney (Fairwood B.C.), Tony Gray (White Hall B.C.) and Dennis Newbery (Southchurch Park B.C.)

A cheque was presented to Gary Williams (Committee Member) by Sarah Wilson (Day Centre Supervisor) and Michael Nicholson (Acting CEO).
