Essex Fire Service wins award for road safety at Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards

Published on: December 8, 2023

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) has been recognised for its collaboration with Audi to improve road safety at the prestigious Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards.

Today the Service’s Road Safety Team scooped the Collaboration of the Year award for their partnership work with Audi.

The Service’s partnership with Group 1 Audi goes back to 2016 when it provided ECFRS with a high-performance vehicle to use in their road safety outreach and engagement work.

This year the Road Safety Team future-proofed this collaboration by working together to develop the Service’s knowledge around electric vehicles.

Audi openly share their experience and insights of this new and evolving world of electrical vehicles with ECFRS.

Chief Fire Officer Rick Hylton said:

“As Chief Fire Officer I am proud, but not surprised, that our Service continues to both be recognised and win awards.

“Winning and being nominated for awards not only honours our achievements but also spotlights our people’s outstanding commitment to their work and our communities.

“While the recognition these awards give is a testament to our people’s dedication to excellence, I am even more proud of the incredible work our colleagues contribute every single day. Together, we are united in our mission to make Essex a safe place to live, work and travel.”

The Service was also nominated for the following awards:

  1. Emergency Services Collaboration of the Year – International Women’s Day Planning Team
  2. Training Provider of the Year – Liam Noll
  3. Most Influential Ethnic Minority Individual in Fire – Dr. Muhammed Ahsan

During the morning, ECFRS also received five nominations at the Comms 2.0 Awards which took place in Birmingham. It was highly commended for a campaign that used data and insights to help increase the number of volunteers joining the Service to help make Essex a safer place to live, work and travel.

Last week, the Service received an award and four merits at the Asian Fire Service Personal Fair and Diversity Awards, being recognised nationally for the work it does to increase and recognise diversity.
