We are delighted to be working in partnership with A Better Start Southend (ABSS) to help deliver a home visiting service in the Southend wards of Kursaal, Victoria, Milton, West Shoebury, Shoeburyness and Westborough.
Together we recognise that pregnancy, birth and being a parent is a life changing experience. Every family deserves support in overcoming challenges, and this support helps children to have the best possible start in life. Through the emotional and practical support of families with children under 4, the Volunteer Home Visiting programme can have a unique and valuable contribution to make in enabling this.
Volunteers will be matched to a family and will visit each week for approximately 2 hours usually for around 6 months, supporting families who are experiencing challenges within family life, such as: isolation, single parenthood, bereavement, multiple births, disability, mental or physical ill health.
We also offer telephone befriending. We recognise and understand that all some families need is someone is at the end of a phone (or video call), to provide emotional support and practical advice. Our professionally trained volunteers offer weekly phone or video calls, providing friendship, guidance and a listening ear to help a family through a difficult time.
