Southend Youth Offending Service – aims to prevent offending and re-offending. We work with children and young people at risk of offending, and those receiving as Reprimand, Final Warning, or Court Order. We also work in partnership with Neighbourhood Policing Teams to deliver street-based outreach offering young people viable and attractive alternatives to anti-social and criminal behaviour. (www.southendcdrp.co.uk/youth_offending_service.php)
Connexions – offer advice and guidance on career choices, training, and support in finding employment for young people up to 19. The service works in partnership with schools, colleges, and training providers to ensure the best support is available. Connexions Personal Advisers also offer one to one support to help young people overcome any barriers that are preventing them moving into learning, training, or work. We work with services such as young mums groups; BUMPS ante-natal groups, Family Nurse Partnership, cooking4life, parenting programmes, children’s centres and offer contraception advice for the future.
Young Person’s Drug and Alcohol Team (YPDAT) – provide drug and alcohol treatment services for under 21s in Southend. The service provides help for all types of substance use. Appointments are made within 5 working days and young people can be seen within the environment which best suits their needs. Parent or carer support is also available. (ypdat@southend.gov.uk)
Streets Ahead are a team of experienced professionals who can help you and your family beat some of the long standing and difficult challenges that you may be facing in everyday life. We know that every family is different but many face issues that make them feel they are trapped in a difficult situation. Problems could include;
-
- Trouble with the police
-
- Children not going to school
-
- Finding it hard to get a job
-
- Not coping, getting anxious or depressed
-
- Health problems
-
- Difficult or abusive relationships
Many families tell us they know they need help but struggle to find the right help and as much as they try to break away from these problems it can be hard to see a positive future. So we listen carefully to what you and your family say and agree with you what needs to happen to put you back on the right track. We believe that real and positive change can only happen by working with the whole family. We will help you, your children, and others in the family too. A dedicated worker will work with you and your family for as long as it takes. They will be with you every step of the way with advice, guidance, motivation and support and often they will challenge you too. We know that by making small changes at first your family can become stronger and more able to cope with the problems that life can throw at you. We can be the difference that you are looking for.
