Following a fun-filled year of activities in 2024, we are pleased to announce that Active Southend-on-Thames will continue throughout 2025. This year’s delivery will bring a range of free activities to our beaches, suitable for the whole family including kayaking, yoga and water dips, beach safaris, cold water dips, and family beach days.

This programme has been funded by the Active Thames Partnership and will build on all of the wonderful activities that happened last year, allowing more people to experience our blue spaces. The funding continues to focus on tackling the inequalities that prevent some of our communities from accessing opportunities on or by the water.

So without further ado, we are delighted to be able to introduce this year’s programme with the very first activity open for bookings! Join Beach School Explorers on one or more of their beach school safaris and take part in inspiring activities to develop your children’s curiosity and help them discover nature. You will explore and learn about this part of the Essex Coast and Estuary while rock pooling and beachcombing, all while receiving facts about the superpowers and magic of the coastal wildlife you find.
