Maria Moon Music CIC® exists to transform the first five years of a child’s life through Monomodal Music Learning® — a highly adaptive, play-based music method that turns short, focused musical moments into measurable developmental impact. We provide inclusive early years music classes and CPD training across Southend-on-Sea and Essex, drawing on over 60 years of research (Edwin Gordon’s audiation studies, Montessori, Kodály, Orff and Dalcroze methods) to prove that structured music from birth boosts language, motor skills, cognitive development, confidence and social-emotional growth.
Our work specifically addresses the current gap in Early Years music provision — where music is too often reduced to unstructured, tokenistic “filler” rather than a core developmental tool. We support:
Homeschooling parents delivering music at home with confidence
Neurodiverse and disadvantaged children who benefit most from inclusive, sensory-rich music
Childminders, nannies and Early Years practitioners through CPD-accredited training (via our sister site, mariamoonmusiccourses.com)
Instrumental and singing sessions for children, teens, and young adults across the community

Southend Music STEAM Tech Clubs (Ages 8–17) — Coding, Music Tech & Wearable Technology

Southend Music STEAM Tech Clubs is our coding and technology division, based at Shoeburyness Youth Centre, providing daytime clubs specifically designed for homeschooling students aged 8–17, alongside weekly community sessions. We are a Raspberry Pi Foundation Code Club Listed Venue, supported by BBC Micro:Bit, and led by youth mentors including Adonai Chinyama (STEM Ambassador and BBC Micro:Bit Champion).
What sets us apart: we don’t teach coding as an isolated screen-based subject. We blend music technology, wearable tech (including the Mini.Mu glove), and hands-on hardware (Raspberry Pi, ESP32, Micro:bit) with real coding languages (Python, JavaScript, Java) in short, focused 25-minute project bursts — turning curious children into confident problem-solvers, not passive screen-time consumers.
Our clubs are split into two age-appropriate learning groups:
Sanderlings (ages 8–11)
Kingfishers (ages 12–17)
Both groups combine in-person, hands-on club sessions with blended weekly remote “virtual classroom” support — making it ideal for homeschooling families needing daytime, flexible, ongoing educational structure. Since launching in August 2026, we’ve already supported 26+ local children across Southend and Shoeburyness, with strong emphasis on safe, mistake-friendly learning environments for neurodivergent and underprivileged young people.
