Maria Moon Music CIC is a community‑rooted music charity re‑imagining alternative early years music education for babies, toddlers, and children under six, with a special focus on empowering childminders, home educators, and early years organisations.
We champion music in informal and alternative settings — home, park, beach, forest, and community spaces — so high‑quality music learning becomes part of everyday life, not just something that happens in a classroom.
At the heart of our work is our own signature Music Monomodal Learning®™ approach, which streamlines early years music sessions into three clear perspectives: Music from the Body®, Music from the Heart®, and Music from the Mind®. These perspectives are then explored through five key musical dimensions — rhythm, tone, speed, volume, and contrast — helping adults structure musical play that is simple to deliver yet rich in developmental impact. Grounded in the research of Jean Piaget and Edwin Gordon, our programmes recognise that the years from birth to school age are critical for building lasting musical neural connections and musical thinking (audiation).
We design and deliver premium blended music activities that match each stage of the child’s development, so children can explore and understand music in ways that are emotionally, physically, and intellectually meaningful. We upskill childminders, home educators, day‑care professionals, nurseries, and early years organisations who value music as a subject in its own right and want to bring developmentally appropriate music experiences to their children. Through in‑person training, online courses, and flexible memberships, we offer practical tools like 15‑minute music sessions, simple activity structures, and themed ideas that fit real‑life ratios, routines, and mixed‑age groups from birth to five.
Our aim is to build confidence in adults who may not see themselves as “musical,” so they can nurture a musical brain in every child and lay strong foundations for later formal schooling and lifelong musical engagement.
We provide this via in person sessions, online sessions and half day or full day workshops. Please contact our Director to receive an info pack.
