About this Funding:
Older people on low incomes in England and Wales can apply for small grants through Friends of the Elderly’s Grants for Older People programme.
The funding is available to older people who live in England or Wales and are in financial need. Grants are usually up to £600, although in some cases grants of up to £1,000 may be available.
To qualify for a grant, the person must be:
- Living in England or Wales
- Over State Pension age
- On a low income
- Have savings of less than £4,000
The grants provide practical help with essential needs and living costs, including:
- Energy and utility bills
- Rent, council tax, and other household costs
- Essential home items, such as furniture and appliances
- Food, clothing, and daily essentials
There are two ways to apply. Applications can be submitted through a referral agent, such as a charity, advice agency, local authority, housing provider, or health and social care professional who is already supporting the older person.
Alternatively, individuals who are comfortable using online forms, or who know someone who can help them, can apply themselves.
Applications can be submitted at any time.
