Community Builder’s Good News Story: International Women’s Day

Published on: March 30, 2026

This year’s International Women’s Day from Welcome to the UK took on a fresh and inclusive format, welcoming the public to the Victoria shopping centre for a lovely celebration. Visitors explored a variety of information tables from the voluntary sector, alongside interactive experiences including a henna station and beauty area.

People were inspired by uplifting speeches from Ilda the CEO of Welcome to the UK and a local MP Bayo, emphasising the importance of community, empowerment, and recognition of women’s contributions. The event also featured bookable workshops offering creative, mentally enriching activities, providing attendees with hands-on opportunities to engage, reflect, and connect.

Overall, the day was a lovely celebration of women and the wider community, bringing people together to honour, support, and uplift one another.
