SAVS Launches Digital Skills Support for Over 50s in Southend

Published on: January 15, 2026

SAVS are pleased to announce a new initiative funded by Essex County Council’s DSIT Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund, aimed at supporting over 50s in building confidence with digital services. Running from January to March 2026, the project will help residents access banking apps, the DWP app, the NHS app, and reduce fears around using digital technology.

Training sessions will be held at SAVS, with dates to be released soon. In addition, SAVS staff members Emma Jellett and Jamie Langstone will be visiting organisations that support older residents to provide 1-1 drop-in sessions. The workshops are designed to be empowering, friendly and confidence boosting. Groups interested in hosting a session are encouraged to email jlangstone@savs-southend.co.uk to be considered.

“This funding allows us to make a real difference in the community,” said SAVS Sector Manager, Jamie Langstone. “We want to ensure that older residents can navigate essential online services confidently and safely.”
