New Charity Launched to Strengthen Communities

Published on: April 24, 2026

The Queen Elizabeth Trust is a new independent charity established to mark the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth and honour her lifelong commitment to public service. The Trust will support communities across the UK by funding and helping to restore shared spaces that bring people of all ages and backgrounds together, such as community hubs, underused buildings, parks and green spaces.

Funding will also help communities develop the skills and confidence needed to run local events and activities.

The Government is providing a one-off £40 million endowment. This provides the initial funding needed to support local projects and will act as a catalyst for future fundraising.

The King will act as Royal Patron.

Further information will be shared in the coming months.
