- Local charity HARP celebrated a hugely successful day at the Hackney Half Marathon yesterday, with 140 runners coming together to raise nearly £50k to support people experiencing homelessness across Essex.
Representing local homeless charity HARP in one of London’s most popular running events, participants ranged from first-time half marathon runners to experienced athletes. Together, they completed the 13.1-mile course through Hackney in soaring temperatures and an electric atmosphere, cheered on by thousands of supporters lining the route.
Funds raised through the event will help HARP continue delivering vital services to people facing homelessness and housing insecurity.
Agata Elliiott, Communications & Fundraising Director at HARP, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to every single person who ran for Team HARP this year. To see 140 people come together with such energy, commitment and compassion was truly inspiring. Raising nearly £50,000 is an extraordinary achievement, and every pound will help us continue supporting people experiencing homelessness across our community. Thank you to everyone who donated, supported from the sidelines, volunteered, and helped make the day so special.”
HARP also extended special thanks to professional photography, Gaz De Vere for capturing the spirit of the day. Photos credited to Gaz De Vere.
