The Youth Jobs Grant provides businesses across Great Britain with a £3,000 payment per hire when they recruit a young person who:

• Is aged 18–24
• Has been unemployed
• Has been on Universal Credit for at least six months

Eligibility criteria apply.

The grant is open to employers of all sizes and sectors.

The application is completed online and takes around 20 minutes. Employers will also be asked to accept a short set of terms and conditions.

Grant payments

The £3,000 grant is paid in two instalments:

• £1,800 after week 6 of employment
• £1,200 after week 18

Employers will receive:

• £3,000 per eligible hire
• Job-matching support through Jobcentre Plus and local recruitment consultant teams
• The opportunity to meet potential candidates before recruiting them

Employers must:

• Offer a genuine paid job of at least 25 hours per week
• The role must be one they would otherwise recruit for
• Complete the straightforward application
• Confirm the organisation meets requirements to ensure roles are safe, fair and good quality, usually through a simple declaration
• Provide a named point of contact
• Keep DWP informed of anything affecting the role or grant application
