The Turning Tides Team (Triple Ts) have recently completed their summer HAF programme in conjunction with Southend City Council. HAF is a free and exciting holiday programme for children who are in receipt of benefits related free school meals.
The team ran a total of 9 fun-filled sessions which had an average attendance of 29 children, each of whom were provided with a hot and nutritious meal as part of the sessions.
Children enjoyed a range of activities including; a Community Project with Southchurch Hall Inspirational Parkers, Kayaking and Mountain Biking at Hadleigh Country Park, a trip to visit the HMS Belfast and Clink Prison in London, swimming and adventure golf at Garons and the grand finale was a visit to Colchester Zoo where 35 children attended.

In addition to this, 18 children joined the staff and volunteers for a 3 night stay in Great Hucklow, Derbyshire where the group enjoyed the delights of the Peak District with trips to Chatsworth House and a day in Matlock where they visited the Heights of Abraham.
Scott Elliott, Team Leader for Turning Tides Team said,
“It’s been a busy few weeks for the Triple Ts team, thank you to all those involved in organising these trips for the children and especially all our hardworking volunteers. We are very pleased the HAF programme was a success, there were lots of happy and tired children at the end of each day.”
