Grants of between £500 and £2,500 will be available from the Woodroffe Benton Foundation to support people with severe physical and/or learning disabilities to access the natural world and spend time outdoors.

The Woodroffe Benton Foundation is an independent grant-making foundation supporting charities operating in the UK. Its areas of interest include relief of hardship, care for older people, education and youth development, environment and conservation, and human physical wellbeing.

UK registered charities can apply if they:

• are based in the UK;
• have annual income below £750,000;
• have at least one full set of accounts after charity registration.

Eligible work needs to support people in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Funding is mainly intended for core operating costs, although project costs are not excluded.

Examples of the types of projects that could be funded (the list is not exhaustive) include:

• accessible nature-based activities for people with severe physical and/or learning disabilities;
• supported outdoor visits, day trips or residential experiences;
• gardening, growing or conservation activities adapted for disabled participants;
• sensory nature sessions, wildlife activities or outdoor wellbeing programmes;
• transport costs to help people access parks, gardens, countryside or other outdoor spaces;
• staff or support worker costs linked to safe outdoor participation;
• venue, equipment or accessibility costs that enable people to spend time outdoors;
• social activities in natural settings that reduce isolation and improve quality of life.

The programme usually has two funding rounds each year, in March and August. The fund will open from 1 August 2026 to 31 August 2026, or earlier after 150 applications have been received.
