Southend Lions Donation Provides Unique Climbing Experience

Southend in Sight organised an exciting new activity for local visually impaired children and young adults, thanks to a generous donation from the Southend Lions.

The climbing and ‘bouldering wall’ event was hosted by Indirock in Southend-on-Sea, with 12 families and 6 young adults taking part. The whole venue was hired exclusively for Southend in Sight and the children and adults were given a full safety briefing beforehand. A few of the children really took to the activity of climbing the ‘rock faces’ and were praised by staff for their bravery.

CEO Lucy Martin said: “We are so grateful to the Southend Lions for their generous donation of £500, which allowed us to organise an experience for local visually impaired people that many had not tried before. Our thanks also to the team at Indirock, for taking on board the tips we suggested through our Sight Loss Awareness training”.
