Join Focal Point Gallery for the next Contemporary Elders on Saturday 23 May where they are led by one of their own Contemporary Elders, artist, Janet Phillips.

In the workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to explore the term ‘Exhibitionist Grotesques’ and discuss the somewhat controversial forms that architects and historians have found within churches called Sheela Na Gigs, dating back to the 9th century. In exploring these forms, you will learn about some of the history and have the opportunity to create your very own sculpture! What might these sculptures look like if we take our own experiences? What would Sheela Na Gigs represent to you now?

No experience, knowledge or understanding is needed prior. All information and materials will be provided! Just go along with an open mind and your curiosity!
