Type of Fund: Local

About this Funding:

Shared Space invites applications for funding to bring together isolated and marginalised people. This is to amplify their voices and support their active contribution to the local community, helping to foster a stronger sense of belonging and cohesion.

Shared Space sells the things people donate to raise money to give away. Each month, a group of Shared Space volunteers from the local community in each store decide where that money goes. From 2022 – 2024 the success rate for applicants was over 50%.

Typically we fund:

  • Things that benefit people on low incomes, the excluded and under represented. To empower them.
  • The money might help provide opportunities, support or activities, or it could fund a community-led campaign to enable something to happen for these people, shaped by them.

You could ask for money to fund:

  • Projects: We can help fund an exciting new activity or an existing initiative. It can be a long-term project or a one-off;
  • Equipment and facilities: The things and space you need to deliver the work;
    e.g a sewing machine or room hire for a local group.
  • Running costs. So you can buy what you need to keep the lights on and open your doors.

This is a rolling funding programme, so you can apply whenever you’re ready. Where possible, we aim to respond to applications within 4 weeks to tell you if you were successful or not.

Use our Grant Check Tool to see if you are eligible, and how to apply.
