Get Involved: Waterwatch UK Working group

Published on: July 24, 2026

After hearing consistently from residents that they find it difficult to understand why information can differ between sources such as water company reporting, Surfers Against Sewage Safer Seas and River Services App and the BeachAware emails. Waterwatch UK  would like to bring organisations, public bodies, regulators, local authorities, MPs’ offices and water companies together to better understand these differences and ensure a balanced and collaborative approach as it is an important step towards improving transparency and public confidence.

The purpose of the working group would be to:

  • Better understand how different monitoring and reporting systems work.
  • Identify where inconsistencies or gaps exist.
  • Develop clearer public information to help residents interpret water quality data.
  • Explore opportunities for improved collaboration and data sharing between organisations.
  • Make recommendations that can be shared at future Waterwatch Summits.
