World COPD Day

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Community Connectors took part in an event at the Victoria Shopping Centre Southend on World COPD Day, on Wednesday 20th November. Bringing together healthcare professionals, community groups and the public, the event not only educated attendees about Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease but also inspired people to prioritise lung health.
The public were able to talk with Community Respiratory Nurses to better understand their lung health and gain access to educational material and resources which contained actionable steps to help improve their quality of life.
Sara Hadden, Community Connector Co-ordinator, comments,
“The event was a resounding success. The Community Connectors were able to share information about local support groups and share their lived experience about how these groups can enhance people’s lives.”
“The event highlighted the power of community driven initiatives to help raise awareness and empowerment for better health outcomes in our community.”
